Abstract

The pervasive integration of digital technology into all aspects of jewelry design has systematically affected creativity conception, design output, manufacturing, and dissemination. This study employs a bibliometric visualization analysis via CiteSpace, analyzing the current state, characteristics, and trends of digital jewelry design research from 1989 to 2025 across two citation databases (WOS and Scopus). It synthesizes and clusters existing research keywords into a cohesive knowledge framework that includes and interacts among design education, design tools, design methods, and design implementation. The study posits that research in the field of digital jewelry design is synchronous with contemporary developments featuring a blend of affirmation and critique, and is gradually transitioning from an engineering-driven to a humanities-driven orientation. However, limitations remain in terms of the systematic depth, theoretical grounding, and diversity of research questions addressed. Future research in digital jewelry design should focus on establishing interdisciplinary collaboration networks, fostering a consensus on systematic knowledge frameworks, and focusing the reciprocal impacts of tool advancements on designers.
