Research on Immersive Narrative with Data Visualization--Taking Chen Hanmin's Design Thought as an Example

Abstract

Traditional narratives struggle to convey complex personal stories effectively. Immersive narrative combined with data visualization offers significant potential to enhance understanding, engagement, and educational impact by transforming intricate data into digestible, interactive experiences. This research explores this potential using the rich design legacy of Chen Hanmin, a pivotal figure in modern Chinese graphic design. Utilizing TouchDesigner with Arduino sensors for dynamic interactivity, this research developed three immersive case studies, try to reduce the cognitive cost of comprehending complex design philosophies and biographical data. This method transforms abstract concepts into tangible visual interactions, fostering interest learning and activating educational value. Interactive elements transfer narrative agency to users, enhancing immersion and participation.
