Abstract

The construction of visual systems for mega-events has long faced the dual dilemma of repetitive investment and the fragmentation of visual assets. This paper proposes a systemic solution based on the Kits of Parts (KOP) modular design strategy by tracing the evolution of the KOP strategy in the Olympic visual legacy and its subsequent application following the Beijing Dual Olympics. Using a combined approach of theoretical analysis and case validation, the study systematically explains how KOP enables the sustainable construction of brand identity by establishing a long-term reusable visual asset library and unified output specifications. Empirical evidence from six consecutive years of practice at the China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS) quantifies KOP's significant effectiveness in reducing design costs and enhancing management standardization awareness. Finally, in response to the challenges of high initial investment and maintaining innovative balance in long-term KOP application, the paper proposes strategies such as establishing dynamic iteration mechanisms and strengthening policy guidance, providing important references for both theoretical innovation and practical application in mega-event visual asset management.
