Abstract

Chinese mythological female figures represent an important yet underexplored resource in contemporary cultural and creative design. Existing design practices in this field rely heavily on designers’ experiential judgment, with limited empirical support from systematic user demand analysis. This study applies the Kano model to investigate user perceptions of design elements in cultural and creative IP products derived from Chinese mythological female figures.A questionnaire-based survey was conducted to extract key design elements, which were subsequently classified using the Kano model. Satisfaction Index (SI) and Dissatisfaction Index (DI) values were calculated, and a four-quadrant analytical framework was constructed to examine the functional characteristics of each design element from the perspective of user perception. The results indicate that the overall design elements of Chinese mythological female IP products are predominantly characterized by attractive needs, suggesting that user satisfaction is largely driven by unexpected experiential factors rather than basic functional fulfillment. Design elements related to cultural narrative, visual expression, and emotional enrichment play a decisive role in enhancing user satisfaction, while notable differences exist among elements in terms of dissatisfaction risk.By quantitatively revealing the differentiated roles of design elements in user perception, this study extends the application of the Kano model to cultural IP design research and provides a user-centered reference framework for systematic decision-making in the development of Chinese mythological female IP cultural products.
